About the Event
Justice John Devine was first elected to the Supreme Court of Texas in November 2012. He previously served for seven years as judge of the 190th State District Court in Harris County and for nine years as an appoint ed special judge for the Harris County justice of the peace courts. A native of Indiana, Justice Devine attended Ball State University, graduating in 1980 with a B.S. degree in business administration and marketing. Following graduation, Justice Devine became a Texan and entered the corporate world of Shell Oil Co. in Houston as an analyst and later worked in various corporate and project-oriented positions
Justice Jane Bland has served on the Supreme Court of Texas since 2019.
• Texas voters elected her in 2020 with over six million votes—the most a candidate for any elected office has received in Texas history.
• Justice Bland has over 25 years of experience on the bench—as a Texas Supreme Court Justice, an appellate justice, and a trial court judge.
• Justice Bland is board-certified in Civil Trial Law and Civil Appellate Law.
• Justice Bland chairs the Judicial Commission on Mental Health.
Judge Lori Ruiz-Crutcher proudly serves as our District Judge of the 244th Judicial District Court of Ector County, Texas. Before being elected as District Judge, she was a partner at Atkins, Hollmann, Jones, Peacock, Lewis and Lyon. Throughout her career, Lori has been recognized for her dedication and high professional standing among her peers. She is a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas based on outstanding contributions to the legal profession as well as a commitment to the community. Heavily invested in the Ector County, Lori actively gives back to the Ector County community. She is a former board member and former President of the Education Foundation of Odessa, former President of the Ector County Young Lawyers Association, former board member of West Texas Gifts of Hope, and former representative for the City of Odessa on the Ector County Appraisal District Board.
